Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz on Monday night defended the job she has done as head of the Democratic National Committee Monday, and said she isn’t “blocking” anyone, especially Sen. Bernie Sanders, from the Democratic nomination or getting their message out.
Appearing on “The Daily Show,” Wasserman Schultz was asked by host Trevor Noah if Sanders was being “c—kblocked” by the DNC, to which the DNC chair replied that she isn’t “doing a very good job of rigging the outcome” in the Democratic race.
“As powerful as that makes me feel, I’m not doing a very good job of rigging the outcome or ‘blocking’ anyone from being able to get their message out,” the DNC chairwoman told Noah.
“I have a job as the national party chair that is one that requires a thick skin. It requires me to be able to absorb the body blows so our candidates can stay above the fray,” Wasserman Schultz said. “If I have to take a few punches in order for them to be able to make sure their message gets out, so be it.”
“I’m all about making sure that, ultimately, we can elect our party’s nominee in the general election,” she added.
