Donald Trump has dismissed evidence that led law enforcement authorities on Tuesday to charge his campaign manager with misdemeanor battery against a female reporter.
As previously reported by the Washington Examiner, Trump’s campaign manager Corey Lewandowski was arrested Tuesday morning by the Jupiter Police Department in Jupiter, Fla., after authorities concluded their investigation into assault allegations made by ex-Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields.
A video obtained by police, which accompanied the arrest report, shows Lewandowski grabbing the arm of Fields during a press conference at Trump’s international golf course earlier this month.
But in a tweet posted Tuesday afternoon, Trump claims the footage obtained by police shows “nothing.”
The billionaire also suggested that Fields changed her statement about the incident after realizing it was caught on tape.
“Why aren’t people looking at this reporters earliest statement as to what happened, that is before she found out the episode was on tape?” he tweeted Tuesday.

Minutes before Trump himself reacted to the arrest, his campaign released a statement claiming Lewandowski is “absolutely innocent” and “was not arrested.”
Lewandowski is scheduled to appear in court on May 4, 2016.
