National Mall app could make tourists smarter

Plenty of Washingtonians have been there. You’re taking a jog on the National Mall when a group of tourists stop you so that you can take their picture in front of the White House. But it’s not the White House. It’s the Capitol Building. Duh.

The National Park Service is now saying, “there’s an app for that.”

The park service introduced the NPS National Mall app for iPhones, iPads and iPod Touches. It provides users with maps, walking directions and tour suggestions of the National Mall. But best yet, it uses the phone’s camera to label the monuments as the users are walking around the Mall. Now when that group of tourists passes by the Capitol Building, they know it’s the Capitol Building.
