Sightings: Close kicks off film festival; Jarrett noshes

Actress Glenn Close was at the Canadian Embassy on Wednesday for the start of this weekend’s GI Film Festival. Close directed the film “Pax,” which details Sgt. Brian Campbell’s return from Iraq with post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury.

Campbell’s recovery is aided by a dog, aptly named Pax, who was trained by a female inmate, whom Campbell also bonds with in the flick.

Also on Wednesday night, White House adviser Valerie Jarrett was spotted chowing down on a multicourse meal with Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Shaun Donovan. Our spy reports that it was clearly a working dinner, held at Italian restaurant Bibiana downtown.
