“Game Change’s” first trailer was released Tuesday, giving us a first glimpse of the made-for-TV HBO political flick which details John McCain‘s selection of Sarah Palin during the 2008 cycle.
Set to the music of “American Woman,” the trailer shows Julianne Moore delivering classic Palin, including, “you know what they say the difference is between a hockey mom and a Pitbull — lipstick,” and, later, “you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska.” Moore also portrays Palin going rogue, at one point yelling, “I am not your puppet.” Eek.
Audiences also get the first taste of all the behind-the-scenes stuff that authors Mark Halperin and John Heilemann captured in the book to make it a best-seller.
There’s actress Sarah Paulson as McCain adviser Nicolle Wallace questioning Palin’s foreign policy chops, and also Woody Harrelson as McCain campaign manager Steve Schmitd saying out loud what a lot of campaign staffers were most likely thinking. “Oh my God, what have we done?” he gawks in the trailer. And there’s Ed Harris as McCain, looking uncannily like the former presidential hopeful.
“Game Change” will premiere on HBO March 10.
