$4,500: Current asking price for a 6-foot-tall Chia-pet-like bust of GOP hopeful Rick Perry. The reason this exists is that a Texas-based fertilizer company, Dairy Waste Management, created a Perry planter and a Bill White bust, Perry’s Democratic gubernatorial challenger, for a contest in advance of last year’s election. The company used their product Cow Wow, a liquid compost that doesn’t smell like cow, to grow the candidates “hair.” Folks then voted on the best ‘do. “Bill won by a landslide,” Dairy Waste Management’s Leslie Hearne told Yeas & Nays (Perry, obviously, won the election, though). Today, both busts are for sale and in storage. “Right now Rick is in a barn, he’s covered with a sheet so his head wouldn’t get covered with bird poop,” Hearne said. So far the company’s had a lot of interest in the bust from reporters and bloggers, but none from potential buyers.
