MSNBC host and former Republican congressman Joe Scarborough said he doubts that President Trump will last a full term if he keeps doing what he did in his first month in office.
Appearing as a guest Tuesday night on CBS’s “Late Show,” show host Stephen Colbert asked Scarborough, who says he is in frequent contact with the president, whether Trump will last a full four years.
“Well, I think if he continues the way he continued the first month, I just don’t think it’s sustainable,” Scarborough said. “And I don’t think it’ll last four years.”
He said that the way Trump has acted over the past month has made it “even harder” to call Trump “Mr. President.”
Trump’s first month in office was marked by much of the same activity that was a trademark during his campaign: A steady stream of intense media coverage and uncomfortable confrontation with high-profile figures.
Added to the mix were a flurry of sometimes controversial executive orders Trump signed to quickly fulfill campaign promises.
Scarborough often criticized the White House for attracting scrutiny that distracts from its agenda.
On the “Late Show,” Scarborough said it’s “the responsibility of all Americans, especially Republicans” to “stand up right now and speak out.”
