Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump weighed in on the controversy surrounding Starbucks’ Christmas-themed cups.
“I have one of the most successful Starbucks, in Trump Tower. Maybe we should boycott Starbucks? I don’t know. Seriously, I don’t care. That’s the end of that lease, but who cares?” the business mogul told a crowd in Springfield, Ill., on Monday about Starbucks’ latest decision to change its holiday-time coffee cups.
The coffee giant recently announced it would no longer produced its Christmas-themed cups, which last year included scenes of snowflakes, reindeer and sometimes Christmas ornaments. Now, it’s holiday-time cups will be a simple two toned red color and only include the image of the company’s green and white logo.
Starbucks “wanted to usher in the holidays with a purity of design that welcomes all of our stories,” company Vice President Jeffrey Fields said when the cups were released in October.

“If I become president, we’re all going to be saying Merry Christmas again, that I can tell you. That I can tell you,” Trump concluded about the controversy at his Illinois rally Monday night.
At a campaign rally in October, Trump also announced his alliance to Christmas by saying, “I guarantee if I become president, we’re going to be saying ‘Merry Christmas’ at every store.”
Trump’s comments come on the eve of the fourth Republican presidential debate. In a RealClearPolitics average of polls, Trump leads the GOP field with 24.8 percentage points.
