Fox News’s Republican presidential primary debate, the first of the campaign season, likely broke records, according to early Nielsen numbers, as reported by CNN.
Ratings from Nielsen indicate that as much as 16 percent of households that have a TV watched the debate Thursday night. In other words, that is upwards of 10 million viewers, according to CNN.
That number is almost double a record Fox set in September of 2011, when the network hosted one of the first GOP presidential primary debates of that election cycle. That debate attracted 6.1 million viewers, according to the New York Times.
