Bush: ‘I wish I could talk as well as some of the people on the stage’

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush returned to New Hampshire one day after the third Republican debate to deliver the message that “Jeb can fix it.”

Bush dismissed the notion that running for president is a performance but did not appear completely satisfied with his showing on Wednesday.

“I wish I could talk as well as some of the people on the stage, the big personalities on the stage, but I’m a doer,” Bush told a crowd in Portsmouth. “It’s not about the big personalities on the stage, it’s not about performance, it’s about leadership. And the leader today in this country needs to be a unifier and needs to have a servants’ heart.”

After making across-the-board financial cuts last week, Bush’s campaign insisted that it would place extra emphasis on the Granite State. Bush gained the endorsement of former Sen. Judd Gregg on Thursday.

Gregg praised Bush’s proposed reforms to Social Security and Medicare.

“He has put forward more substantive thoughts and ideas on these issues than all the other candidates combined,” Gregg said. “And they’re good ideas and will lead America to a stronger and better day.”

Bush dropped to seventh in the Washington Examiner‘s power rankings following Wednesday’s debate during which he tussled with Florida Sen. Marco Rubio. Bush has since defended his attacks on Rubio for missing votes in the Senate, and continued to jab at the senator during appearances on Fox News and CNN.
