$2,450: Price of the Max Mara camel-hair coat that Rep. Carolyn Maloney sported in the January issue of Vogue. (Maloney borrowed it, we’re told). Maloney and a handful of Washington’s women posed with actress Meryl Streep for a cover story about the Academy Award-winning actress’s role in “The Iron Lady,” a movie about the first female British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, and also Streep’s advocacy work here in Washington. Streep comes to the city often to promote the construction of a National Women’s History Museum on the National Mall.
The rest of the ladies, including (from left) National Women’s History Museum president Joan Wages, Madeleine Albright, Sen. Susan Collins, Sen. Barbara Mikulski, Barbara Bush, Patricia Nixon Cox, Dr. Maya Angelou and Rep. Eleanor Holmes Norton opted to pose in their own clothes. Streep was photographed wearing an even more pricey outfit, a Carolina Herrera silk-and-wool coatdress, which sells for $3,990.
