Rubio camp fundraises off Gowdy endorsement

Shortly after Rep. Trey Gowdy offered up his support of his presidential bid at an event in Iowa, Sen. Marco Rubio’s campaign sent out a fundraising pitch from Gowdy himself.

In the fundraising solicitation titled “My announcement,” Gowdy explains why he is voting for the Florida senator. Gowdy calls Rubio a “rock solid conservative,” adding that the is someone voters can count on and “stand true to his word.”

Three times in the email itself, supporters are urged to
“STAND WITH MARCO & TREY” and
“BECOME A 2015 DONOR RIGHT NOW.” The pitch comes merely days before the fourth fundraising quarter ends with the turn of the calendar.

The email came less than an hour after Gowdy joined Rubio at a town hall in Burlington, Iowa — the first of three on the day. During the event, the South Carolina Congressman explained that he’s backing Rubio due to his national security chops, telling the crowd that, “I’ve found my candidate.”

Rubio is currently ranked fourth in the Washington Examiner‘s latest power rankings.
