Where in the world was Gov. Mark Sanford? Again?
The South Carolina Republican pulled a disappearing act Monday, taking the day off without telling the lieutenant governor his whereabouts, according to the Associated Press. While he spent most of Father’s Day with his four sons, what he was up to Monday remained a mystery as of Tuesday night.
He was back in the office as of Tuesday morning.
Last June, the first time he went missing, Sanford first said he was hiking the Appalachian Trail before revealing he had actually escaped for a few days to Argentina to visit his mistress, Maria Belen Chapur. Fast-forward to this year, where he again has been spotted with Chapur in Florida. He and Jenny Sanford finalized their divorce in March.
The governor’s spokesman, Ben Fox, did not return a call for comment.
