Jordan vows to save pilot captured by Islamic State

Jordan vowed it is doing all it can do to secure the freedom of one of its pilots captured by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria.

After a video was released Saturday showing the beheading of Japanese journalist and Islamic State hostage Kenji Goto, Jordan strongly condemned the murder and said it is working hard to get Lt. Moaz al-Kasasbeh home safely.

“All state organizations have been mobilised to secure the proof of life that we require so that he can be freed and returned to his home,” Jordanian government spokesman Mohammed al-Momeni told the Petra news agency.

Jordan is even willing to exchange an Iraqi prisoner for the safe return of the pilot, who has been shown as captured since December, after his plane went down during a mission supporting the U.S.-led airstrikes against the terrorist group.

The Jordanian government hopes the killing of Goto does not have any immediate implications for al-Kasasbeh, but the government is concerned the terrorists will see him as a high-value asset they can use to their advantage, according to the BBC.
