Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley and former Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine will have speaking roles at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C., next month.
O’Malley, the head of the Democratic Governors Association and a top surrogate for the Obama campaign, was expected to snag a speaking role this year.
This will be O’Malley’s second time delivering remarks at a national convention. He also spoke in 2004.
Kaine is running for one of Virginia’s U.S. Senate seats against Republican George Allen.
The Democratic National Convention Committee on Monday announced the addition of O’Malley and Kaine to the speaking schedule along with six other confirmed speakers, including Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., and Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick.
