A new Fox News national poll found Donald Trump has gained a significant lead over the 13 Republican candidates vying for the party’s nomination.
The self-funded billionaire won 39 percent of support from Republican primary voters, an 11-point jump from last month’s 28 percent, according to the survey taken after Tuesday’s GOP debate.
Texas Sen. Ted Cruz moved into second place with 18 percent of the vote, nearly double the share he had in October.
Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and former neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson dropped to 11 percent and 9 percent, respectively. Carson fell from second place to fourth as many GOP voters have begun to question his knowledge on national security and foreign policy issues.
Tied for fifth place at 3 percent were Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, N.J. Gov. Chris Christie and former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina.
