Christie stumps in three states

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie will continue his nationwide stumping tour with stops in Maryland, Michigan and Pennsylvania.

As chairman of the Republican Governors Association, Christie has been traveling around the country to raise money and support for gubernatorial candidates this November. But it has a side benefit of raising his profile in some key states.

Christie stopped in Maryland on Wednesday to raise more than $400,000 to support Republican candidate Larry Hogan, according to Baltimore’s WBAL-TV.

Hogan is hoping to prevent Democratic nominee Lt. Governor Anthony Brown — who is ahead by 15 points, according to a RealClearPolitics average of polls — from bringing what Christie called at a fundraising event a third term for current Gov. Martin O’Malley.

Next week, Christie will head to Michigan to meet with voters on behalf of incumbent GOP Gov. Rick Snyder, who is in a right race for reelection against Democrat Mark Schauer, according to NJ.com.

Snyder is up by just 1.2 points, RealClearPolitics says.

This Michigan trip will come three days after a stop in Chicago for an RGA event on Tuesday, and before Christie takes off to a GOP event in Pennsylvania to support incumbent Gov. Tom Corbett, who is currently trailing Democratic nominee Tom Wolf by more than 16 points, according to RealClearPolitics.

By the end of this week, Christie will have campaigned for candidates in 27 states: Florida, Texas, Illinois, Massachusetts, Georgia, Michigan, Connecticut, Nevada, Utah, Pennsylvania, Missouri, Maine, Virginia, New Mexico, Tennessee, California, New Hampshire, Iowa, Colorado, Alabama, Mississippi, Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Maryland, according to the RGA.
