We’ve seen Rep. Rick Larsen, D-Wash., do some stellar stand-up comedy (he’s often a contestant at D.C.’s Funniest Celebrity), but he didn’t find it too funny when three of his D.C.-based staffers were called out by the NW Daily Marker for drinking and tweeting on the job. According to the Daily Marker’s report, three staffers — Seth Burroughs, Elizabeth Robbee and Ben Byers — tweeted from their personal accounts about office shenanigans, like drinking Jack Daniels-infused coffee during meetings, and taking shots before work. They also used these Twitter accounts to make fun of Larsen, with Burroughs at one point calling the Democratic Congressman his “idiot boss.”
In response, Larsen’s Communications Director Bryan Thomas put out a statement Thursday saying that the trio had been fired. “Congressman Larsen is disappointed by their actions and takes this very seriously,” the statement read. “He has made it clear that he will not tolerate this kind of behavior.”
