Report: Super PAC meets FEC requirements by changing ‘Carly’ to ‘C.A.R.L.Y.’

A super political action committee that backs Carly Fiorina changed its name — by adding five punctuation marks — to abide by FEC rules. Carly for America officially became C.A.R.L.Y. for America this week, as the Wall Street Journal noted.

After the FEC issued an official reprimand because the super PAC included a candidate’s name, C.A.R.L.Y. no longer has any connection to Fiorina. Instead, it stands for “Conservative, Authentic, Responsive Leadership for You and for America.”

On Tuesday, Fiorina visited “The View,” and took questions from the five female co-hosts. When asked about her qualifications for pursuing higher office and lack of experience holding public office, Fiorina attempted to leverage her background as an asset to her campaign by portraying herself as an outsider.

“I think we’ve sort of gotten used to this idea that only a professional politician can run for office. Why?” Fiorina asked. “I understand how the economy works, I understand how the world works, I understand how bureaucracies work, which is what our government’s become, I understand technology, which is kind of important now, and I understand leadership.”

Fiorina is in New York City this week, and on Friday she will appear at the Northeast Republican Leadership Conference in Philadelphia, Penn. On Saturday, she will speak at the Faith and Freedom Coalition’s Road to the Majority event in Washington, D.C.
