‘D.C. Housewives’ more dramatic off-screen than on

The first episode of “The Real Housewives of D.C.” premiered Thursday, but it was a yawn compared to the chatter at the premiere parties around town.

Four of the five “Real Housewives” gathered at the Madison Hotel for an official party and seemed relieved when Michaele and Tareq Salahi decided not to show up. “We’re tired,” said cast member Mary Amons. “We’re tired of agitators.” Because of the Salahis, the other “Housewives” were forced to discuss the recent backstage spat on “The View” with Whoopi Goldberg and another douse of recent drama, Tareq Salahi throwing wine in “Housewife” Lynda Erkiletian’s face. Erkiletian arrived at the Madison with security and wearing a Zac Posen dress from Target, still rattled from the incident. “Just in case I’m a target, I want to make sure I’m only spending $75,” she told a pack of reporters.

The Salahis had plenty to say about these mini-controversies as well at their own “Housewives” party, a benefit “for the troops” that cost between $25 and $500 to attend.

“I think I got Whoopi-ed, she did a Whoopi on me, I wasn’t expecting that, I’m not used to that kind of communication,” Michaele Salahi told Yeas & Nays about “The View” incident. Tareq Salahi tried to excuse his behavior as well. “Lynda has been abusing and attacking Michaele throughout the whole show,” said Tareq Salahi. “There’s really only so much you can take of Lynda.”

Adding to the drama, the Salahis were served court papers at the party, according to the Washington Post. The couple reportedly owes PR firm Brotman-Winter-Fried Communications upward of $15,000 and were given an affidavit Thursday night.

And for those who didn’t watch the first episode, “Housewives” Stacie Turner and Cat Ommanney bickered over Presidents Bush and Obama, while Erkiletian judged Salahi for being too thin.
