The Mooch Is Loose: It’s Scaramucci vs. Bannon, Round 2

During the whirlwind White House shakeup last summer, Steve Bannon lasted a few weeks longer than Anthony Scaramucci, but the Mooch is clearly trying to have the last word. And in covering the latest battle between Donald Trump and his ousted former strategist, Fox & Friends—the president’s favorite TV show—was happy to give Scaramucci airtime to show exactly whose side they are taking.

Scaramucci dropped by Fox Thursday morning to address Bannon’s assertion that Donald Trump Jr.’s meeting with Russian officials was “treasonous” or at least “bad shit.”

Fox News’ then rapid-fire tweeted several extremely . . . interesting . . . quotes from Scaramucci after his appearance.

In case you have forgotten the frenetic timeline, Scaramucci was named White House communications director in July, which prompted the resignation of Sean Spicer and led to the ouster of chief of staff Reince Priebus. During the Mooch’s brief tenure, he gave an interview to the New Yorker’s Ryan Lizza in which he said, “I’m not Steve Bannon, I’m not trying to suck my own cock . . . I’m not trying to build my own brand off the fucking strength of the President. I’m here to serve the country.”

Then John Kelly was hired as chief of staff. He fired Scaramucci immediately and Bannon three weeks later.

And yet, here we are. Time is indeed a flat circle.
