TAMPA, Fla. – Newt Gingrich was greeted with a standing ovation at a faith and freedom rally in Tampa Sunday, and he just couldn’t help but twice plug his “Newt University” venture to the faithful.
Gingrich made one mention of Newt University, his workshop series, at the beginning of his 12-minute talk and sneaked another one at the end, saying that “we all need to think better, more clearly, and more creatively if we’re going to solve America’s problems.”
The former GOP presidential candidate also praised Mitt Romney, called President Obama “a direct threat to the survival of the country,” and somehow worked in a reference to the presidential election of 1896, when William McKinley defeated William Jennings Bryan.
