Slate: Trump’s ‘easy D’ tweet signals support for gays

The left-leaning Slate website saw something homoerotic in President Trump’s Twitter message that referenced “easy D.”

The message, which Trump put out on Wednesday, was intended as a swipe at federal judges who have imposed temporarily blocks on the White House’s push to delay all refugees and immigrants from seven countries.

“Big increase in traffic into our country from certain areas, while our people are far more vulnerable, as we wait for what should be EASY D!” Trump wrote, apparently using “D” as shorthand for “decision.”

Associate editor at Slate, J. Bryan Lowder, published a blog post afterward that suggested, in jest, “easy D” may have actually been a reference to gay sex.

“In ‘easy D’ tweet, Trump signals support for gay community,” Slate’s Twitter account said.

“In the old days, unfettered by the frustrations of P.C. restraint, D was so easy to come by,” Lowder wrote in his post. “I join with our leader in his rousing call to #MAGA [make America great again] and return to that fertile era, and I hope you will too. The decision is easy.”

Not all of Slate’s readers saw the humor.

“Slate, come on,” one person remarked back on Twitter.

“You need a timeout for that desperate leap,” another said.

A third said, “Wow, I used to love slate.”
