Hillary Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook is voicing concern about having fewer individual donors than Bernie Sanders does.
The subject line is “Holy Cow.”
“More of Bernie Sanders’ supporters have stepped up to donate to his campaign than ours have,” Mook writes.
“I know that. You probably know that. And holy cow does Bernie Sanders’ campaign know that,” Mook continues.
The fundraising request seeks more symbolic than financial support. Mook asks supporters to send just one dollar, in an attempt to close the gap with Sanders on overall supporters.
Sanders frequently points out that he has the most individual donors in history and faults Clinton for fundraising principally from Wall Street and other organized interests.
