Benjamin Netanyahu: World powers must push for a ‘better deal’ with Iran

The international community needs to insist on a “better deal” with Iran over its nuclear program, according to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The prime minister said Wednesday that while world powers make concessions to Iran during talks, the country will continue to accelerate “its campaign of terror throughout the Middle East,” while also threatening to erase “Israel off the map.”

“A better deal would significantly roll back Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. A better deal would link the eventual lifting of the restrictions on Iran’s nuclear program to a change in Iran’s behavior,” he said.

The six world powers negotiating with Iran — the U.S., Britain, France, German, Russia and China — are still in Switzerland attempting to get a deal done, though the deadline for a framework passed on March 31.

“There are several difficult issues still remaining,” the State Department said.
