President Obama will host Prince William at the White House Monday, marking the Duke of Cambridge’s first trip to the nation’s capital.
“We’ll have a little royalty in the house on Monday,” said White House press secretary Josh Earnest.
However, the prince’s wife, Kate, who is pregnant with the couple’s second child, will not attend the gathering, Earnest said.
The royal couple is visiting New York and Washington next week to discuss illegal wildlife trafficking. William also will deliver remarks at the World Bank.
“The president welcomes the prince’s work in this global fight against what is both a national security threat and a devastating environmental problem,” the White House said of the visit.
The prince will meet separately with Vice President Joe Biden and his wife, Jill, the White House said.
