Walker to Trump: ‘We don’t need an Apprentice’

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker slammed Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump within minutes of the second GOP debate Wednesday evening, with the help of Trump’s old TV show.

Turning to the billionaire, Walker, who is trending downward in the No. 8 spot in the Washington Examiner‘s presidential power rankings, said: “Mr. Trump, we don’t need an apprentice in the White House.”

“We have one right now [and] he told us all the things we wanted to hear back in 2008,” Walker said. “We don’t know who you are or where you’re going and we need someone who can actually get the job done.”

Trump hit him back in the way other GOP candidates have gotten used to. “Excuse me, in Wisconsin you’re losing $2.2 billion right now,” Trump said. “As a businessman, I would do so much better than that.”

“You’re using talking points of the Democrats right now,” Walker shot back.

In addition to Walker, Trump fielded attacks from Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush in the first few minutes of the debate.

Walker has dropped from GOP favorite to bottom-tier candidate over the summer. He entered tonight’s debate at just 3 percent support among likely Republican voters, according to the latest RealClearPolitics polling average.
