Canadian Mike Myers to Trump opponents: ‘We’ll take you all’

Canadian actor Mike Myers used his first White House state dinner Thursday night to tell Americans who would flee a Trump-run United States they are welcome to seek refuge in his home country.

“We’ll take you all,” Myers told a reporter who inquired about reports Americans have been Googling “how to move to Canada” in the days after Donald Trump won the majority of states on Super Tuesday.

Myers, also an American and British citizen, joked about current political affairs, asking the same reporter, “Is there a debate tonight?”

The former Saturday Night Live performer also complimented Canada’s government and people.

“One of the things that Canada can offer the world is civility, and one of the great legacies that Canada may leave is the strength of the democracy, is not how we agree but how well you disagree,” Myers said.

The state dinner was the first to take place between the North American countries in nearly two decades. President Obama hosted Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife this week so that the two leaders could discuss trade, environmental and security issues.
