Watch: Obama offered to support Biden’s cancer-stricken son

Vice President Joe Biden told CNN Monday that President Obama offered to give him the money to ensure his son, Beau Biden, had enough financial support in the event his cancer forced him to step down from his job as Delaware’s attorney general.

“I said [to Obama] my concern is, if Beau resigns, there’s nothing to fall back on, his salary,” Biden said of his son, who died of cancer last May. “I said, but I worked it out. Jill and I will sell the house, we’ll be in good shape.”

“He got up and he said, ‘Don’t sell that house. Promise me you won’t sell the house,'” Biden said, describing Obama’s reaction.

“He said, ‘I’ll give you the money. Whatever you need, I’ll give you the money. Don’t, Joe. Promise me. Promise me,'” Biden said.

“And then, I’ll never forget the eulogy he delivered for Beau,” he added.
