The State Department has put out an advertisement that says it wants to hire three interior designers, jobs that pay anywhere from $92,000 to $141,000 per year.
Applicants for the interior designer positions must be able to obtain and maintain a “Top Secret” security clearance, and if they get the job, they’ll work on designing U.S. diplomatic missions abroad.
State is looking for designers to hire at the GS-13 and 14 levels — the GS-14 position will be paid the most. All the jobs are full-time.
According to the job notice, the designers will be used specifically in State’s Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations, Program Development, Coordination and Support Directorate, Office of Design and Engineering, Interior Design Division.
“The Division provides comprehensive interior design services to include programming, space planning, architectural finish specification and furniture for U.S. diplomatic missions worldwide,” State’s job notice said.
Other duties include coordinating with engineers, researching interior products and finishes, and developing technical documents to include “scopes of work, budgets, schedules and narratives.”
Applicants for the GS-14 position must have one year of experience at the GS-13 level, and have experience as a team leader in planning, design and execution of a complex commercial facility. “Experience with technical writing to include scopes of work, narratives, trip reports and position papers” is also necessary, State said.
The jobs opened up on March 25, and applicants have until April 7 to apply.
