Collis and McFly partner for Fresh morning show

Tommy McFly has been rocking the airwaves and making waves (in a good way) since his move to 94.7 Fresh FM. And the fun doesn’t stop there. Yeas & Nays first reported about McFly being pegged to host the station’s first ever live morning show last week. Now we are happy to be the first to report that longtime Washingtonian and City Shop Girl founder Kelly Collis will be partnering up with the 25-year-old disc jockey and joining the cast of creative characters on “The Tommy Show.”

“When Tommy asked me if I would consider throwing my hat in the ring for this, I said, ‘Absolutely!’ I didn’t even hesitate, and at the time I thought it was a long shot given my experience of having not been on radio,” Collis told Yeas & Nays. Eager and interested, Collis went for it and, according to McFly, after their first radio demo together, he knew they were a perfect match.

“She rocked it right out of the gate,” said McFly. So why did McFly pick the entrepreneur and mother of two to be his sidekick on his career-highlight radio program? For starters, the two are neighbors and genuine friends off-air, but more importantly, they also have a mutual business respect for each other.

“Kelly brings so much to the table, including the coffee,” McFly joked. “She has a different point of view than me but still calls it like she sees it. And in a town like D.C., where people’s BS monitors are really finely tuned, they know when you’re faking it, and we definitely aren’t,” he added. You can catch the duo’s first show live starting at 5:30 a.m. June 20.
