Ryan: Clean house at IRS

In his first ad of the 2014 election cycle, Rep. Paul Ryan hits the Internal Revenue Service, an argument that is more likely aimed at the 2016 presidential race.

“The IRS tells you to hang on to seven years of your personal tax information, but they can’t even keep six months of employee emails. It’s time to clean house at the IRS,” the Republican from Wisconsin says in the 30-second spot.

Ryan, one time vice presidential candidate and possible 2016 presidential contender, criticizes the IRS for attempting to stonewall congressional investigations. He also calls for a reform of the nation’s tax code.

“Eliminate loopholes, lower tax rates, create jobs, make it easier on hardworking taxpayers,” says Ryan, who has represented Southern Wisconsin since 1999 and is up for election next month.

A RealClearPolitics average of polls has Ryan fourth out of the 10 potential 2016 GOP candidates. He is expected to easily win his House race.
