‘Pie Sisters’ open shop, put TV dreams on hold

One year and four locations later, the “Pie Sisters” have finally opened their aptly named store in Georgetown. The trio — Erin, Alli and Cat Blakely — from Great Falls, are the three faces behind Pie Sisters, which specializes in both sweet and savory pies, sold in three sizes.

When Yeas & Nays caught up with sisters Erin and Alli in March they were using a different name and looking at another storefront. (Now, they’re at the foot of Key Bridge). “It look us a long time to get this spot,” Erin said. She also explained why they nixed the name O’B.Sweet Pie Shoppe. “Everyone already referred to us as the Pie Sisters so I think it was just a natural change,” she added.

While her sisters were setting up shop, Cat was working as a government contractor in Iraq, returning to the states in August. Now she’s the sister who works the most grueling scheduling, bookending her day job at the State Department by working at Pie Sisters in the mornings and evenings. “I don’t care that it’s 4 o’clock in the morning because I’m going to meet my sister and have coffee and put music on and bake pies,” she said, calling her full-time job the sisters’ “insurance policy.”

In addition to the store, the Blakelys were being filmed by a local production company for a reality show, but that’s on hold for now. “We just really didn’t have the time quite yet,” Erin said. Though she’s not through with the idea. “I love our concept, I love our customers, I think it’s a really cool environment and to be able to share that with other people I think could be an exciting thing.”
