Naughty or Nice: The list of nice

It was a merry October for 35 top D.C. employees.

Checks totaling $341,770 — their fiscal year 2006 performance bonuses — were cut on Oct. 24, less than a month after the fiscal year closed. Mayor Anthony Williams and Interim City Administrator Ed Reiskin both said, however, that the bonuses were justified and the performance reviews objective and rigorous.

“It roughly does parallel the performance, I think, of the different individuals,” Williams said recently. “I think it’s money well spent by the city, and I would advise the next mayor to give performance bonuses, too.”

Below is a list of all performance bonuses received Oct. 24, obtained through the Freedom of Information Act. Most of the same people received their fiscal year 2005 bonuses, a lesser amount in all cases, in late July.
