FLOTUS shares fashion philosophy

First lady Michelle Obama isn’t too good for discounts, as evident when she donned a pink dress from Target when she spoke at a roundtable discussion on family and health at the White House on Monday. There she shared some of her fashion philosophy, which always assumes comfort first, and function over form. “My motto is I have to feel good in it; I have to wear what I love. I try to be thoughtful about spreading the wealth: young designers. Mixing things up is important to me. But my day-to-day wardrobe choices are very practical,” she said, adding later that she prefers to focus on issues rather than fashion, so she saves her money for items that she knows she’ll love wearing — weather permitting — so she can focus on connecting with voters. “If I’m comfortable in what I have on, that’s second nature, and then all my attention can go to the people in the room that I’m with at that time, and I don’t have to worry about whether something is riding up or whether my feet hurt,” she said.
