The parents of Trayvon Martin met with the father of Michael Brown at a Friday vigil in south Florida.
Martin’s parents, Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin, met with Brown’s father, Michael Brown Sr.
“There’s really nothing you can say,” Fulton said, according to the Associated Press. “Time is going to heal the wound. But I think what we can just do it just encourage them and tell them that they’ll be able to make it because it is very difficult.”
Martin was shot and killed by George Zimmerman in 2012. Zimmerman was found not guilty by a jury.
Brown was shot and killed by police officer Darren Wilson in August. A jury decided earlier this week not to indict Wilson.
“I just tried to encourage him and let him know that God has his hands on the situation, and he’s gonna be OK,” Martin told Brown’s parents.
Brown Sr. spoke out after the grand jury’s decision. “I didn’t understand. It just let me know that where we live is not where we thought or where I thought,” he said Wednesday.
