Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina said Thursday that the attack in San Bernardino, Calif., is another act of Islamic terrorism, even though authorities have yet to draw any final conclusions about the motives behind the shooting.
“So here’s what we know. These are mass murderers who were Muslim and recently returned from Saudi Arabia,” Fiorina said Thursday morning on “Fox and Friends.” “So if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck and sounds like a duck, maybe it’s a duck?”
So far, authorities know that the shooters in question were a married couple, both Muslim and one from Saudi Arabia.
In the wake of the 355th mass shooting attacking the United States this year, many politicians and pundits alike have called for increased gun control and stricter regulations. Thursday’s cover of the New York Daily News displays photos of various GOP primary candidates praying for victims of various shootings, but with the headline, “God isn’t fixing this.”
“We need to pray for the victims, that everything points to a terrorist attack, a homegrown terrorist attack,” Fiorina said in response to the Daily News’ headline. “This is an example of how afraid the Left wing is terrified of the truth, terrified of our values, and by the way, the Left wing is terrified of me.”
Fiorina also said that those of terror watch lists should be indicted and thus prevented from buying guns.
“We can’t prejudge the investigation, but it sure looks like Islamic terrorism and extremism to me,” she said. “Now we’ll see what the FBI comes up with … I think the only thing that’s throwing the FBI off a little bit is that this wasn’t a suicide attack, this is a new kind of attack. These are people who clearly wanted to survive the attack, they planned the attack, they recorded the attack. These are different tactics, but it sure looks like a duck.”
