‘Big deal’ is big hit

The Veep said it, we cringed and now he’s given permission to tout it on a T-shirt.

President Obama’s post-election campaign, Organizing for America, got the OK from Vice President Biden to turn his gaffe from burden to boon.

“Health Reform is a BFD” is now available in bold print on T-shirts at OFA’s Web site for a $25 minimum donation.

The shirt went live Wednesday, and since it’s been up, the limited-edition product has been a hot item.

The description reads: “There are things that are a big deal — birthdays, anniversaries, the NCAA Championship game. And then there are things that are a BFD, like delivering health insurance to 32 million Americans. We worked hard together to make health reform a reality, and now you can celebrate this historic victory with this shirt.”

OFA’s National Press Secretary Lynda Tran told Yeas & Nays the traffic to the Web site spiked since the T-shirt went up. Because of high demand, the site predicts six to eight weeks for delivery.
