A 13-year old black student from Georgia is receiving a lot of attention after delivering a scathing critique of President Obama for inviting a Muslim student to the White House, after the student was arrested for building a clock that teachers thought was a bomb.
In a video, middle school student CJ Pearson said the invitation followed Obama’s pattern of identifying with victims only when they fit his political narrative, but ignoring other victims.
“When Kate Steinle was gunned down by an illegal immigrant, you didn’t do anything. You didn’t even call the family. You didn’t invite them to the White House. Is that okay? I don’t think so, Mr. President,” Pearson exclaims in the video. “When cops are being gunned down, you don’t invite their family to the White House,” he said. “You never did.”
“In all honesty, I think you’re being ignorant, I think you’re incompetent, and I don’t think you understand reality,” Pearson continued. “You don’t get invited to the White House for building a clock.”
This is not the first time the YouTube sensation, who serves as the national chairman for Teens for Ted Cruz, has made headlines. Pearson first drew national attention in February with another online video in which he asked President Obama, “Do you really love America?”
For his part, Cruz’s campaign is hailing Pearson as national model for how young people can engage their elected officials. “The Internet allows really anyone to have a voice and build a following, and CJ is a great example,” Cruz campaign spokesman Rick Tyler recently told the Dallas Morning News.
