Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum has postponed a campaign swing through nearly four dozen counties in South Carolina, his campaign announced Wednesday.
The Republican presidential hopeful’s campaign said the delay comes in the wake of “logistical issues,” but Santorum himself told the Des Moines Register Tuesday he plans to “spend a couple of days just thinking and praying [about] what we are going to do.”
Santorum, who won Iowa’s Republican caucus in 2012, carried just 1 percent and zero delegates this time around. According to several reports, even one of his precinct captains decided upon another candidate during voting Monday night.
The former Pennsylvania senator had planned to launch his “inVest in America Tour” in South Carolina, which is slated to hold its primary on Feb. 20, featuring events in several of the state’s most heavily populated area. Instead, Santorum’s campaign said he plans to remain in Washington for a handful of media appearances.
“The Santorum Campaign is working to reschedule the Senator’s events and he looks forward to returning to South Carolina soon,” campaign officials said.
Santorum is currently ninth on the Washington Examiner‘s presidential power rankings.
