Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush attacked his opponents’ positions on defense spending during a town hall on the campaign trail in South Carolina.
“I do believe we need to spend more unlike Trump and Cruz,” Bush told the crowd. “Marco Rubio claims he has foreign policy experience because he went to committee hearings … I think eight years as governor, traveling overseas, living overseas, being involved overseas, trade missions and across the board having dealt with world leaders is a far better experience than going to some committee hearing in the foreign relations committee or something like that.”
Bush added that he wished he had gotten the same question during the last presidential debate, and appeared to relish the opportunity to attack his opponents’ positions on defense issues. But the governor did have to prime the crowd to throw questions his way, and he pointed at someone in the crowd and said, “I’m going to ask you a question if no one else [asks me].”
The governor was joined by his famous brother, former President George W. Bush, on the campaign trail in South Carolina on Monday. Jeb Bush will hold three events in the Palmetto State on Tuesday flanked by South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham.
Bush ranks fifth out of six presidential candidates in the newest Washington Examiner GOP presidential power rankings.
