Fiorina: Donald Trump ‘a big wake up call’ to political establishment

One day after Donald Trump’s campaign visit in Dubuque, Iowa, fellow 2016 candidate Carly Fiorina argued that Trump’s campaign is a “big wake up call” to establishment politics.

Appearing on “Morning Joe” Wednesday, Fiorina asserted that Trump is tapping into a “disgust” of the political system. She added that people believe the game is “rigged” and that the media helps to carry on that narrative.

“Donald Trump is, perhaps, as much as anything, a big wake up call to the professional political call as well as the media, honestly. People are tired of both, and they don’t trust either one anymore. And I think what Donald Trump taps into is a disgust in the professional political class, a belief that the game is rigged, and that, in part, whether this is fair or not, the media helps rig it. I think people want truth-telling in politics.”

As an example, Fiorina pointed to her comments in the first GOP debate and immediately afterwards that Hillary Clinton has lied about Benghazi, her emails and her server.

“I think Donald Trump’s a wake up call to a lot of folks in the professional political establishment, for one, and the media, for another,” Fiorina reiterated.

The former Hewlett-Packard CEO did add however that Trump’s candidacy (along with all the other candidates) will reveal his character as the campaign wears on.

Fiorina’s remarks come after Trump initially kicked Univision anchor Jorge Ramos out of his campaign event Tuesday for asking a question out of line while taking questions from the media.
