If you’re wondering where Santa is on his journey around the world, have no fear: There are two online trackers available this year.
One is sponsored by the North American Aerospace Defense Command, otherwise known as NORAD, which has annually mustered hundreds of volunteers since 1955 to answer children’s questions like where Santa’s sleigh is and whether he got their gift requests.
Last year, volunteers at the Peterson Air Force base in Colorado took more than 134,000 calls over 23 hours and organizers said this year is no different. The tradition started after an advertisement by Sears Roebuck & Co. mistakenly directed children to call Santa at the commander in chief for the U.S. Continental Air Defense Command.
Google is sponsoring the other Santa tracker, something the company has been doing since 2004. From 2007 through 2011, Google worked with NORAD on the tracker, but now the agency offers it through a partnership with Microsoft.
