Mike Huckabee says the scandal over Hillary Clinton’s exclusive use of personal email “will linger.”
“There’s a protocol that she didn’t follow,” the former Arkansas governor and potential 2016 Republican presidential candidate said on “Fox News Sunday.””There’s also some legal issues about whether or not it’s a good idea to store top secret information … on a personal server in a personal home away from all the firewalls that the government would provide.”
Huckabee, who has previously suggested Clinton might have broken the law by using a personal email instead of a government email to conduct official business when Secretary of State, stayed the course on his assertions, though adding he can understand why she did what she did.
“I think anybody who’s ever been in politics would love to keep a lot of things quiet,” he said. “People want the candor of conversation.”
Huckabee also predicted the email scandal “will linger,” especially as she approaches her expected announcement to run for the 2016 Democratic ticket.
Huckabee said Clinton keeping her emails private is just part of the Clinton family’s political machine, speaking from experience of knowing the Clinton family for decades.
As the investigation into the email scandal continues, Huckabee cautioned it will be a long and tough one because of the Clinton family power.
“I know what it is to face an extraordinary machine. … These are people who know how to play politics. They play to win, they use every tool at their disposal to win,” he said.
