Afternoon Links: Meet the Conways, Nic Cage is the Best, and the Oral History of the Buzzard

Let’s call the whole thing off. Do read this Washington Post Ben Terris profile of Kellyanne and George Conway.

Look at that smile. Perhaps Sen. Bill Nelson should be more careful.

Meet Andrew Kaczynski. Over at the Post, there’s an excellent profile of CNN’s Andrew Kaczynski that’s well worth reading. He dropped out of college to take a job at BuzzFeed, but I can attest he’s well-educated: We attended the same grade school in Shaker Heights, Ohio.

Is there anybody out there? Vice reports that your phone is listening to you, and it’s not paranoia. Should you worry? “unless you’re a journalist, a lawyer, or have some kind of role with sensitive information, the access of your data is only really going to advertisers. If you’re like everyone else, living a really normal life, and talking to your friends about flying to Japan, then it’s really not that different to advertisers looking at your browsing history.”

An oral history of the Buzzard, WMMS. The Cleveland Scene has a great look back on the storied history of one of America’s great rock stations, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary.

The private sector kills Baltimore’s bikeshare. The city is closing down its program and letting private firms replace it. As regular readers know, Washington probably won’t reciprocate, having poured far more money into its (comparatively successful) Capital Bikeshare program.

You gotta appreciate Nic Cage. Chuck Schumer’s lame threat to sue the National Archives to get Brett Kavanaugh’s records pale in comparison to a man who would steal the Declaration of Independence. In related news, the Guardian’s Luke Buckmaster gorged on a Nic Cage marathon, and came away impressed. He asks: “Is there another actor anywhere in the world as original and distinctive?” Nope.

Credit unions are great… But the Wall Street Journal asks: why give them a free ride?
