Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus tore into Hillary Clinton Thursday, claiming the latest batch of emails from her tenure as secretary of state demonstrate she’s unfit to be commander-in-chief.
The State Department’s New Years Eve email dump included 5,500 pages of Clinton’s emails, 275 of which contained classified information, and is the eighth batch to be released through court orders since May.
“With more than 1,250 emails containing classified information now uncovered, Hillary Clinton’s decision to put secrecy over national security by exclusively operating off of a secret email server looks even more reckless,” Priebus said in a statement.
He continued, highlighting the Democratic presidential front-runner’s previous claim that none of the emails on the private server she kept as secretary of state contained classified material.
“A claim which has since been debunked on a monthly basis with each court-ordered release,” Priebus noted.
“With an expanded FBI investigation underway and new details emerging about the conflicts of interest her server was designed to conceal, Hillary Clinton has shown she lacks the character and judgement to be president during this critical time for our country,” he said.
The State Department is expected to release another batch of Clinton emails “sometime next week,” marking the second time the agency has missed a benchmark since July. A final batch is slated to be released before Jan. 29, 2016.
