$7 million: Amount that Crossroads GPS, Karl Rove‘s famous conservative non-profit, just shelled out for a new campaign ads against Democrats going into 2012. One ad, called “Wake Up” — narrated by a woman who says she can’t sleep because of her family’s financial problems — is set to run both 30 and 60-second spots in Colorado, Iowa, North Carolina, New Mexico, Nevada and Virginia. Other ads will air against Democratic Sens. Bill Nelson of Florida, Claire McCaskill of Missouri, Jon Tester of Montana, Ben Nelson of Nebraska and Sherrod Brown of Ohio — all using anti-tax rhetoric as the crux of their message.
Crossroads GPS spent $70 million in the 2010 midterm elections and has pledged to raise $120 million for the 2012 election cycle.
