Pataki about to drop 2016 bid

Former New York Gov. George Pataki is reportedly set to call it quits on his 2016 bid for the White House.

According to The Boston Globe’s James Pindell, Pataki was calling supporters in New Hampshire Tuesday afternoon informing them of his decision to drop out.

Pataki, a former three-term governor of the Empire State, was unable to gain much traction at all during the campaign. His poll numbers were perpetually low, he never made it out of the undercard debates and he was last sitting at 12th in the Washington Examiner’s presidential power rankings.

In fact, Pataki was at one point excluded altogether from the Nov. 10th debates in Milwaukee, Wis., along with Sen. Lindsey Graham and former Virginia Gov. Jim Gilmore, who has not participated in any debate since Aug. 6.

Pataki will become the fifth GOP candidate to drop his bid, joining the likes of former Texas Gov. Rick Perry, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, and Graham.
