Supporters of Ted Cruz’s presidential campaign have made a $2.5 million televised ad buy in Iowa and South Carolina.
Keep the Promise, a group of pro-Cruz super political action committees, will begin airing new ads in Iowa starting Tuesday through the Feb. 1 Hawkeye State caucus. The South Carolina ad blitz will begin Jan. 25th and run through Feb. 20, the date of the South Carolina primary.
The super PAC’s newest ad appears similar to other videos it has promoted during the GOP primary and features Cruz supporters talking about why they back the Texas senator. It also uses clips of Cruz on the stump and debate stage.
The ad prominently features an image of Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, one of Cruz’s main Republican rivals, when Cruz can be heard talking about standing up to “leaders of our own party.”
“Ted Cruz is a top-tier contender facing vicious attacks designed to frighten voters rather than inform them,” said Kellyanne Conway, president of Keep the Promise, in a statement. “There are no grey areas when it comes to keeping our nation safe and prosperous, and protecting religious liberty and the sanctity of life. A record — not rhetoric — shows who likes to fight for us, and who just likes to fight.”
The pro-Cruz super PAC’s TV ads build upon its digital and direct mail efforts to engage voters. Cruz leads the Washington Examiner‘s newest GOP presidential power rankings with under two weeks to go until the Iowa caucus.
