Hillary Clinton is gearing up for likely 2016 campaign

Hillary Clinton appears to be putting the final pieces in place to launch her presidential campaign, hiring aides in key positions and looking for office space.

Clinton is currently eyeing office space in Brooklyn, N.Y, to serve as her campaign headquarters, CNN reported Friday, targeting an April launch of her campaign.

She has begun to hire a team in New Hampshire — including Mike Vlacich as her would-be state director; Kari Thurman, an alum of Sen. Jeanne Shaheen’s campaign, as political director; and Harrell Kirstein, another Shaheen alum, as communications director, the Associated Press reported.

And Clinton is fleshing out her core press team, bringing on the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s Jesse Ferguson, the New York Times reported Thursday, in addition to a stable of more junior Democratic aides poached from American Bridge, the DCCC and the Democratic National Committee.

In light of the controversy over Clinton having used personal email for official business as secretary of state, the likely Democratic nominee for president has been under growing pressure to put a campaign team in place to push back against unflattering stories and Republican attacks. After the email revelations, public statements being made by pro-Clinton groups and her own team were at times incongruous, and the slow response harkened back to Clinton’s unsuccessful 2008 campaign.
